Q&A
Ask me anything.
Mostly about golf, occasionally about playlists, never about my homework.
DRAFT answers below — Dalilah edits to her exact voice.
How long have you been playing?
Long enough to have outgrown two sets of clubs and short enough that my best round is still ahead of me. Started swinging a cut-down 7-iron when I was little; been competing since middle school.
Favorite course you've played?
Pinehurst No. 2. The greens humble you fast — every up-and-down feels earned. The first time I broke 80 there I sat in the parking lot for ten minutes before I could drive home.
Dream school?
I'm keeping the list short on purpose. I want a program where I can play number 1 or number 2 my freshman year — that's the bar. The school behind it has to take the academics as seriously as the golf.
Driver of choice?
See the bag. Short version: I'm a fast-tempo player who doesn't need help getting it up. Low-spin head, stiff shaft, and I want to hear it.
Walk-up song on the first tee?
Rotates. Lately: Sleigh Bells "Demons", JID "Dance Now", and one country song I won't admit to. The pre-round playlist is more important than people think.
Best round you've ever shot?
The best one is always the next one. The current best one will be on /swings before it's on here.
How do you train in the off-season?
Indoor sim three days a week — full-bag work, not just driver. Strength and mobility twice a week, every week, no exceptions. Putting on the basement runway most nights. The mental side is a 10-minute journal in the morning and 10 at night.
How did the skull thing start?
I made a hat for myself with a stamped skull on it because the cute pink stuff in the pro shop wasn't doing it for me. People kept asking where I got it. I made more. Then I made towels. Then a domain name. Now we're here.
Walk-on or scholarship — what are you targeting?
Scholarship. I'm not playing this game to be a roster filler. The goal has been a partial-or-full from day one, and the schedule is built around posting the kind of scoring average that earns it.
Favorite tour pro?
Nelly Korda for the swing — repeatable, efficient, no wasted motion. Lydia Ko for the brain — she plays smart, not loud. I'd steal one club from each of them.
Hardest part of high school golf?
Balancing season-long form with the AP load. The HS team meets get treated like the main event by the school but the AJGA stuff is what coaches actually scout. You learn to peak twice.
What's in your headphones at the range?
Half the bucket: Tyler the Creator. The other half: complete silence — I'm timing my tempo to my breathing.
